What's included

consumer current

Free Edition

Students, educators, hobbyists, aspiring data and AI professionals, and anyone learning or experimenting with data, analytics, machine learning, and AI for personal or non-commercial purposes.

Free perpetual
Best for

Learning Databricks, building personal prototypes, experimenting with data and AI, creating dashboards and AI agents, collaborative coursework, and exploratory data science projects.

Usage level

limited

Included features
Chat File analysis Code tools Custom agents Projects / workspace Team features One serverless workspace with default storage Build, deploy, evaluate, and govern AI applications and agents within Free Edition limits Create interactive dashboards and use Genie for natural-language data interaction In-product coding assistance that can suggest, explain, and fix code in notebooks, queries, and files Shared notebooks and project collaboration are supported Lakeflow can be used to design and test data pipelines One Lakebase project per account with scale-to-zero compute Eligible users may obtain limited serverless GPU compute and outbound internet access after LinkedIn verification No guaranteed reliability, support policy coverage, or SLA
Model access

The plan supports experimentation with AI models and foundation models, AI applications, and agents, but Databricks does not publish a single exhaustive list of exact model identifiers for Free Edition on the cited plan pages. Some models and serving configurations are unavailable or limited.

Usage notes

Serverless-only environment with limited compute size and usage. One SQL warehouse limited to 2X-Small, maximum five concurrent job tasks per account, one active Lakeflow pipeline per pipeline type, one AI Search endpoint with one search unit, and up to three Databricks Apps. Exceeding quotas can shut down compute until the quota resets.

Limitations

For personal, learning, training, and other non-commercial use only. One serverless workspace and one metastore per account. No classic compute, custom compute configurations, production support, SLA, account console, account-level APIs, SSO, SCIM, compliance enforcement, security customization, private networking, custom workspace storage locations, R or Scala, clean rooms, online tables, or legacy Databricks features. No GPU serving endpoints, provisioned throughput, custom GPU or batch-inference models, or Marketplace provider capability. Databricks may delete accounts inactive for a prolonged period.

Pricing notes

Provided at no cost with no payment required. Usage is subject to fair-use quotas and resource limits.

enterprise current

Enterprise

Organizations running production data, analytics, machine learning, generative AI, governance, and business application workloads that require advanced security, networking, encryption, compliance, and centralized administration.

Usage-based pay-as-you-go or negotiated contract
Best for

Large or security-sensitive organizations with complex governance, private connectivity, customer-managed encryption keys, enterprise networking controls, multiple workspaces, and production-scale data and AI workloads.

Usage level

custom

Models included

Databricks-hosted AI and machine-learning models, external model-provider integrations, model-serving endpoints, Genie and other Databricks AI services

Included features
Chat File uploads File analysis Code tools Custom agents Projects / workspace Team features Admin controls Privacy controls Usage-based platform pricing with pay-as-you-go and committed-use contract options Customer-managed encryption keys, encrypted worker-node traffic, and encrypted queries, query history, and query results Enterprise-only private connectivity, IP access controls, context-based ingress, and serverless egress network policies Unity Catalog governance for data and AI assets, permissions, lineage, auditing, and sharing Centralized account, workspace, identity, entitlement, resource, and security administration Databricks AI services, Genie, model serving, external model-provider integrations, and AI governance capabilities Available through Databricks cloud offerings; pricing and feature availability vary across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Support plans and professional services may be purchased separately
Model access

The Enterprise tier provides access to the Databricks platform's model-serving, AI application, and governance capabilities, but it does not represent an unlimited bundle of named models. Exact model availability depends on the selected Databricks service, cloud, region, deployment configuration, and any external model-provider connection. Model inference and serving usage may be billed separately.

Usage notes

Usage is not provided as a fixed user quota. Capacity and cost depend on the Databricks products, compute, storage, serverless services, model-serving workloads, and other platform usage selected by the customer. Enterprise resource limits are documented separately and some limits may be increased through the account team.

Limitations

Enterprise is a commercial platform tier rather than an individual flat-rate AI assistant subscription. It does not provide a universal fixed allowance for users, messages, files, or model calls. Availability and pricing can vary by cloud provider and by Databricks service. Some capabilities may be previews, region-dependent, product-specific, or require additional configuration or separate usage charges.

Pricing notes

No fixed public subscription price is advertised. Databricks charges for platform products and compute usage, with committed-use contracts and enterprise pricing available through sales. Pricing varies by cloud provider, workload, products, and usage.

business current

Premium

Organizations and professional teams using Databricks for data engineering, analytics, machine learning, and AI workloads.

usage-based
Best for

Business and technical teams that need the full Databricks platform with workspace access controls, collaboration, SQL analytics, data engineering, machine learning, and governed data and AI workflows without the advanced security features reserved for Enterprise.

Usage level

custom

Models included

Databricks-hosted foundation models and generative AI capabilities available through the Databricks Data + AI Platform

Included features
Chat File uploads File analysis Code tools Custom agents Projects / workspace Team features Admin controls Privacy controls Includes core workspace capabilities such as notebooks, jobs, models, and pipelines. Includes Databricks SQL capabilities, including queries, dashboards, and SQL warehouses. Workspace access control and role-based access control are available on Premium or above. Unity Catalog is included with Premium and Enterprise tiers. Supports shared notebooks, permissions, comments, and real-time collaborative editing. Databricks user-facing AI features such as Genie Agents and AI-assisted workflows may be available, with exact availability and usage treatment varying by service. Available across supported Databricks cloud deployments, with cloud-specific pricing and billing arrangements. Support, reliability commitments, and service-level terms depend on the commercial arrangement and are not represented as a universal Premium-tier entitlement.
Model access

Databricks does not publish a single fixed model bundle for the Premium tier. Exact model and AI feature availability depends on the workspace configuration, cloud, product service, release status, and applicable usage charges.

Usage notes

Usage is not expressed as a fixed per-user allowance. Charges are based primarily on Databricks Units and other usage meters. Workspace and account quotas apply; for example, Databricks documents default workspace limits that differ between Premium and Enterprise tiers.

Limitations

Advanced Enterprise-only security capabilities include customer-managed keys for certain encryption functions and encryption of traffic between cluster worker nodes, queries, query history, and query results. Pricing and availability of individual workloads can vary by cloud provider and region. Cloud infrastructure, storage, networking, and related charges may be billed separately by the cloud provider.

Pricing notes

No fixed public subscription price. Databricks Premium is billed primarily according to platform usage, including compute and related services, with pricing varying by cloud provider, region, workload, and commercial agreement. Pay-as-you-go and committed-use arrangements are available.
